Jinesh handed over 2 oxygen cylinders along with a flow meter, oxygen spanner key and a flexi mask to the staff @ Vazhathoppu public health center in Idukki couple of weeks back. We will buy more cylinders after monitoring its usage and based on the requirements. Thanks to Shyju's pre-degree friends for sponsoring these (Rs 17, 240) .

Even though we had raised the required fund for the Oxygen concentrator (even got the quotation/commitment from few vendors to ship it) , we decided not to go with that the concentrator after the discussions we had with few doctors including Dr Deepesh who works in District Hospital in Idukki. We decided to go with Oxygen cylinders instead based on the following inputs:
1) Oxygen concentrator needs continuous power and the small villages that we have identified have lot of power issues (and some of these villages come under tribal area where there's hardly any power)
2) Oxygen concentrator needs to be handled properly and people in that village may not have the skills to use it. For example, it needs to be stopped for few minutes after using it for 8-12 hours.
3) Back up cylinders will be required in the above cases
4) Can be used only for one patient at a time. For that cost we can get, 6-8 oxygen cylinders and can be used by multiple patients
