Monthly Grocery for children | Extending to 20 families from current 10

As you know, we’ve been providing monthly grocery kits to 10 children from Matha High School, Mannampetta since January, following our Christmas initiative last December (2024). These kits, worth around ₹1,000 each, is funded by individuals and not from our internal fund.  The school has now reached out to us with a request to extend this support to 10 more children starting this August, based on similar needs.

This would cost  additional ₹10,000 per month. My suggestion is that we support two months through internal funds, and raise support for the remaining ten months through individual contributions. Encouragingly, we already have commitments for 8 months (plus 2 from internal). Let me know if you guys are ok to put 20 K per year from internal fund for this initiative. Please see the letter from school for this additional request and the tracker for what ever we have done so far from last Jan.

Desktop computers to teach children of tea garden workers | Tamulpur (Assam)

This came through Fr. Augustine. These missionary sisters are teaching computer skills along with other subjects to school drop-out children, most of whom are the children of tea garden workers. Their existing desktop computers are very old and they just have 2 of them...I spoke to them and the quote what they have got also seem to be reasonable (15 K). I have already got commitment from extended group for 2 of them.  Lets buy one from the group fund as well.  Let me know what you think.

PU college fees for Arati | Snehasadhan/ Diamond PU college

Arati has been one of the 20+ students we've been supporting over the past few years from Snehasadhan (Bidar). Even after she moved from Snehasadhan/Anugraha School to Diamond School in Bhalki, we continued supporting her because she was doing really well academically. Last year, she completed her 10th and scored an impressive 97%! She’s now got admission to Diamond PU College, Bhalki. After scholarships and some further discussions, the management has brought her fees down from ₹70K to ₹30K. They've requested for continued support, and I feel we should definitely go ahead with it. What do you guys think?

Regarding Education Support for Divya's sisters (Navya & Kavya)

 Dear Antony,

As we discussed earlier, we offered our support to Dhivya's sister for their school admission, and here is an update on that.

Kavya (11th standard) took admission at a government school in Thodupuzha, and there is a hostel facility for ST students nearby.

Navya (8th standard) secured admission at another government school near Adimali, which offers a pre-metric hostel facility.

Sewing machine for Divya

I have been following the struggles of Parvathy’s family with Jinesh's help, and their situation has only worsened with heartbreaking losses. With Parvathy and Nidhin’s passing, three young girls are now orphaned, and the eldest, Dhivya, is trying to rebuild their lives.

To help her start a livelihood, we are looking to arrange a sewing machine setup (costing around 15-20K) so she can work from home. Given their circumstances, I believe we must come together to support them.

We first helped them during covid time by giving tabs so that they could attend the online classes.

Please see the mail from Jinesh below:

Monthly Grocery kits for 9-10 children from Matha high school , Mannampetta

Last December, we distributed Christmas kits to 20 underprivileged children at Matha High School, Mannampetta, Thrissur. Each kit included a monthly grocery supply, cake, and festive goodies. Seeing the financial struggles of some of these children, we decided to extend our support beyond the holiday season.

Starting in January, we began providing a monthly grocery kit (approximately ₹1,000 per kit) to 9-10 children. To ensure smooth distribution, we have partnered with a grocery shop near the school and are directly coordinating with them.

This initiative is currently not funded internally, but I have assured them that we will explore expanding it to support more children and assess the possibility of funding it through internal resources.

I have also created a separate Google Sheet to track each month's distribution. For privacy reasons, I won’t be sharing the list publicly, but I will share it separately with those who need access.
