Desktop computers to teach children of tea garden workers | Tamulpur (Assam)

This came through Fr. Augustine. These missionary sisters are teaching computer skills along with other subjects to school drop-out children, most of whom are the children of tea garden workers. Their existing desktop computers are very old and they just have 2 of them...I spoke to them and the quote what they have got also seem to be reasonable (15 K). I have already got commitment from extended group for 2 of them.  Lets buy one from the group fund as well.  Let me know what you think.

Dear Antony and Friends,

Ours is an NIOS (national institute of open schooling) institution. Every year about 18 students pass out from here. They all are dropped out children. This year admission, is going on. Till now we have 15 students. Majority of them are from children of Tea garden employees who manages their family with meagre income. Many children also work with them to help their poor parents. Gradually they discontinue their education.

Here we help them to do tenth class through some generous people. Data entry is a subject for them to study. At present we have 3 computers. They all are windows 7. Monitors and keyboard are second handed. We had repaired the CPU several times. At present 5 children sits before a computer and they are not getting time for practical. We expect your kind generosity for this poor children, by helping us with some computers. Hope our request will be granted. We have kept the photos of children and the computers. *

Expecting a favorable reply,

Faithfully,
Sr Litty Francis
