House construction for a widow (Shobavati) | Bidar Karnataka

Shobavati is a widow and she is working as a helper (aaya ) in a school in Bidar (north Karnataka). Currently she is staying in a small shed made of tin sheet. She has two children, 20 year old girl (already married) and 9 year old boy (3rd standard and studying in the same school).  Her husband died 5 years back because of heart attack. Here's few pics of her house and the school (Anugraha school, Bidar) where she is working.

Some teachers along with the school management have raised around 70,000 rs to construct a small house for her. A contractor has given a minimum estimate of 1,25,000 /- (just hall and kitchen with tin sheet roof) and that's when they reached out to us. When I asked them about bathroom, they said they are not planning to include it as they are already short of budget. I requested to get another estimate including a bathroom and may be with proper roofing and they came back with an estimate of 2 lakhs. They will share the plan and the detailed break up of the cost tomorrow.

This case is referred by a Sr (Sr Saphalya) that I know and who is teaching there and it is definitely a genuine case. Currently, they are short of 1,30,000 Rs. My suggestion is to put at least 50k from our internal fund and try and raise the rest of the amount from external sources. Let me know your suggestions.

  2. Love is not patronizing and charity isn't about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same -- with charity we give love. I am overwhelmed to see the work that has been already done to the one who is needy. Thanks to each one of you.
