School fees for all the 15 children @ Snehasadan boarding (servants of the poor) from next academic year (2022-2023) - Bidar, North Karnataka

As you are aware, we have been working with Dina Sevana Sabha (Servants of the Poor) and Anugraha school (Bidar, North Karnataka) since almost an year on few initiatives including the house construction for a widow and couple of others. 

 

During one of the  random conversation with them around 6 months back, Sr Saphalya had mentioned about a small hostel (boarding) that they are constructing for under privileged girls. She also had explained about how they short list these kids by going to various villages around Bidar and find the kids who are not going to school because of financial problems and family issues (single parent, health issues of parents, orphaned kids etc). All of these are children of daily wage workers (men earns around 500-600 Rs per day and women earn 300 Rs per day). That time itself I had expressed our interesting in sponsoring the school fee for some of the girls, as that is the main purpose why our group was formed back in 2006 (Yes, we have completed 15 years !).

 Sr called me few days back to inform that boarding construction is complete and to check whether we are interested in sponsoring the school fees for 1 kid.  They have started with 5 children from yesterday and the above pic is when they got ready to go to school on their first day from boarding :-). Management of Anugraha school is giving full concession for this year as most of the academic year is already over. Next academic year (2022-2023), they are going to have 15 children and that is when they need help with the school fees. I requested Sr to give the breakup of the fees along with the grade-wise breakup of number of children to get an approximate idea and you can find the details below.

Total cost per kids comes only to 10-12K (including school uniform and books) and for 15 kids it will be just  Rs 1,54,000 per year. So, I thought why not sponsor all of them ? We can probably help 5 kids using our internal fund and we can find individual families for helping rest of the 10 from our extended group.  I will share the individual details of the children once I get it. Taking care of the education of 15 girls on our group's 15th anniversary !! I can't think of a better way to celebrate it. I have lot of ideas/plans to help these kids further with their career/future. Will discuss those in the due course.
