Dear Antony,
Thanks,
Jinesh Jose
Hope you are doing
well. I have received a request for support. I did the preliminary data
collection and found to be a genuine case.
This
is the case of a road tarring worker, who is suffering from femoral
occlusion. This medical condition is caused due to his work, ie, melting
bitumin and also due to smoking. No blood flow into his feet. As per
the Idukki medical college, left foot requires removal. Left leg is
full of puss. Right leg is also infected. They suggested to shift the
patient to Kottayam medical college for the surgery, but the family is
unable to carry out the surgery due to lack of money.
Kuttayi's family consists of wife, son and a daughter whose marriage is over.
Wife
is also a patient ( cronic diabetes, backbone ailments), who barely
manages to walk. Son is the only earning member, who is doing labour
work. Recently Kuttayi's son in law met with an accident and he is also
in a bad condition, so there is no possibility of financial help from
daughter's side.
This
family lost their house during 2018 natural calamities. So now they are
staying in a rented house. They got government support for the
construction of their house. I have included the current photo of their
house which is under construction. Due to his medical condition, they
could not complete the house construction also. So his condition is very
tragic and deserves support.
Please
consider this case. A laborer without leg is a sad situation to
imagine. As per my understanding if there is timely medical
intervention, damages can be limited to one leg. If more details are
required regarding the treatment, we can contact the doctor who is
treating him now.
Details collected so far are uploaded here.

Thanks in advance.

Jinesh Jose
Please help. Looks like they need more support
ReplyDeleteTough situation for the family. We can take a portion of surgery cost.. Any idea about the total cost?.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the quick responses dears. We approved 25k from our internal fund.
ReplyDeleteI spoke to Kuttai Soman's wife (Usha) yesterday, and she was completely in tears and could hardly speak. She said they don't even have money to take him to Kottayam Medical college (from Idukki govt hospital). I spoke to Mathai and he transferred 10k immediately to their account. Usha just called me this morning to convey that they have received the money and taking Kuttai to Kottayam medical college today itself. We are tracking this case closely and will keep you updated.

Just wanted to give an update about this case.
ReplyDeleteI spoke to the family members yesterday. Kuttayi was admitted in Kottayam medical college for few days and the doctors there said that they have to remove one leg. Family has decided to try their luck and take him to Thrissur Jubilee mission hospital, as doctors @ Jubilee hospital have apparently treated similar cases with out removing the leg. What they said is they will remove one finger and attach a machine to suck the puss and then do some treatment to increase the blood circulation or something like that. They are going to Thrissur today and will get admitted. Most of the money they are spending these days to take the patient from Idukki to various hospitals as he cannot travel by bus. They are going by Auto rickshaw most of the times.
Mathai has transferred another 10k to Kuttayi's account on Saturday and they have confirmed that they have got the money. We have given 20 K so far. We have committed another 5K from our internal account and one of my friend has committed 5K. We will decide on transferring the same after few days based on the situation.
