Dear Antony and Team,
Greetings from Maniyarankudy!
This is just an update from our side. Due to god's grace, this rainy season has not created much troubles in our place.
This time heavy rain caused dist ructions to some roads, but not much damages to houses.. no casualties. May be the last year
experience helped a lot to improve the quick coordination and mutual help. From certain places people voluntarily vacated to
safer areas. Such precautions minimised the troubles.
The major update what I wanted to share with you is a change in public attitude. Last year Maniyarankudy was at the receiving end.
This time, village was in the mood of a pay back. Everyone worked earnestly to collect and transport relief materials to Wayanad and Malappuram.
Last year Maniyarankudy received significant support from the people of Malappuram. This year everyone from Maniyarankudy tried their best to reciprocate.
Most of the youth accompanied the relief materials and worked in distressed areas for a week. Assisted the people in cleaning and related activities.
The volunteering of the youth for the humanitarian work was remarkable. Most of the work was done by the so called freakans.
I felt very happy to see the transformation of the people from aid receivers to aid distributes. Everyone neglected their own problems and participated at their best.
At this time we thankfully remember the supports from your team during the period of our misery. Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Jinesh
