School Fee for a boy (Deenu) studying in Hassan - Jan 30, 2013 ( Two years)

Kripa (Riya's sis) is working as a Jesus youth full timer this year and she is currently based out of Hassan (Karnataka). She is staying in a school hostel in Hassan

When we went to meet her couple of months back, I also met some of the teachers in that shcool. I told them about our initiative and had asked them to help us to identify kids who genuinely needs help. I have been following that with Kripa since some time and now she has sent details about few cases, which includes even the photocopy of the progress report of the kids. There are 3 cases and this is the one that caught my attention. I have asked Kripa to go and meet this kid and find out more details.

Name of the Student : Deenu H.D
Sex : Male
Religion : Hindu
Age & DOB - 13/11/1998 (14 years)
Class - 8th standard
Name of School - Holy cross sister's school (Hassan)

Father's Name : B.K Doreswamy (Late) . Died of Heart Attack
Mother's Name : A D Mamatha (House wife, studied till 10th)
Other earning members : Nil
Staying in their own house

School fee   - 500 per month

I checked his progress report of 7th standard and it's really impressive...He has consistently scored A+ in all the subjects in all the exams in last year with 98 % !!!!

As I mentioned, I have asked kripa to talk to the kid and still waiting for her feedback..

Since Kripa goes to all villages around Hassan as part of Jesus youth activities, I have asked her to let us know in case she come across any cases like this...She was telling that there are lots and lots of families who are struggling coz the fathers/husbands are alcoholics....But I told we are not considering such cases at the moment.... ?

Dears,
We had promised Deenu and school headmistress that we will be taking care of Deenu's education fee
last year. But there was a delay from Kripa to get the account details, exact amount, address etc and then a delay from my side as well to take it forward.
Kripa had recently visited Hassan and the headmistress asking about the same. Btw, Deenu is doing really well academically this year as well. Here's the break up of the fee:
School Fee - 11,300 per year
Books - 1200 per year
---------------------------------------12,500
I will be sending a cheque of Rs 25,000 to the headmistress TODAY for last year and current academic year, with the attached covering letter.

ok...here's the update...

Kripa went to Deenu's house and spoke to his family...Deenu has an elder brother who is one year senior to him...studying in 9th in the same school....As mentioned earlier, they stay in a own house and Kripa mentioned it's not a bad house....his mom is 10th pass and Kripa tried to understand why she is working and she didn't get a convincing answer.....what she understood is her husband's parents are supporting them in what ever ways they can....school is also giving lot of concession to these kids as they are exceptionally good in studies and are liked by all teachers/students......

Kripa told the best thing that can happen to that family is to find a job for their mom....but we cannot to much on that front....

Even though their situation is not very bad, I still feel we can go ahead and help him for an year at least.... we will also be able to guide the kid and help him to take right decisions.....  When I go next time to Hassan to meet Kripa, I will meet Deenu and  family and will take a decision on how we should proceed....

by the way, Kripa is going to meet another girl's family this week.....
