All,
Spoke to Sr Rosemary just now...She had requested me whether we can sponsor the education of a girl (only tihs year) who is studying in 3rd std....I had asked sr to get all the details including the bank account details....and these are the details she gave today morning...
As I mentioned, girl is studying in 3rd standard in a place called Manikkadavu (bit remote place near iritty, kannur)....girl's dad is a driver (sal - 3500 per month) and mom is also working in some computer shop (2550 per month).....they had one more girl child, but she is no more now....rite now they are struggling to pay the yearly fees for the kid and Sr knows them personally......the fees is around 7000 - 7500 (montly fees - 250 * 12 + 1300 * 3 (special fees for each term + misc)......
kid's dad has applied for creating an account in fed bank iritty as I asked for one.....i will get the account details today evening.......
I think we shud help..it's 7500 rs for one year fees.....and we are giving only for this year....What you say ?

I had asked Sr Rosemary to find out whether we can send a cheque in school's name with the exact fees...she had asked the kid's parents to find out the details from school...but the school office is closed till may first week...so, we will get the details only in may 1st week...
On a separate note, I've been asking Sr to find out the details/status of the first kid that we helped.....Sr was able to get in touch with the kid yesterday....the good news is that girl is absolutely alright with no signs of cancer...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she got promoted to second standard this year........needless to say, was extremely happy to hear that and it gives a lot of satisfaction....... :-) :-) remember that the doctors/parents had given up when we gave money for the last injection.....I'm sure our help and our prayers have helped the little girl... thank god !!
they were also extremely happy when they came to know that we are trying to get updates about her health... :-) :-) Sr told they have taken my number from her and may call me...

My personal thoughts..Let’s not look at the merits of the case this time as we may not be able to fully understand the actual scenario of the dad and mom and the struggles what they are going thru to give EDUCATION for a kid. I agree that they are earning enough to support the kids education. But they may have a thought to give a better education to their kid if financially they are supported externally. Here the maths of Gross salary per month minus expenditure may not work out favorable for a decision to be taken. Also lets give a merit to the dad and mom for going thru the trauma of seeing their daughter death and it really calls for an emotional support from an external source. And if it is for education only and if we can ensure that the money is spent only for educating that child directly thru sister Mary, lets go for it. Its only a cost of two times Drinks party for us. We are spending a lot to temple and churches even after knowing that our contribution is not even part of the0 .000001% of the annual income and we shamelessly go and make them richer year by year. Then why deny for this just because they earn approx 5000/- per month.Best Regards,Jithesh.K.AConceptia Software Technologies Private Limited,+91 93419 64482From: George Mathai [mailto:gmathai@gmail.com]

Puli,Let's consider parents are earning 5000 per month as minimum and they have to just block Rs 625 for their kid's education per mont. if they are not spending 12 % of their income for their kid's education, what else are they spending for (not sure about high debts, or constructing a house. As you say they don't have any other commitments where is the money going!!!) . We need to make sure kid's father is not wasting money for alcohol or any similar linesI think we need to get some more justification for this case, at least answer for these questionsAre parents earning Rs 5000 as minimum monthly wise?What’s the difficulty in blocking RS 600 for kid?Any debt or house construction underway?It's fine as we don't have any case to consider and the amount is not very high and just for one year , but better to buy books and uniform rather than paying in cash. what do you say?I too agree with that We all should wake up and find cases.One thought - An initiative is running by Priest of Bangalore in kottayam by providing shelters and food for those who don’t have anybody to look after and I'm planning to visit in June . Just thinking can we sponsor one time food for them ,it may be a small cost.I will enquire through church to find cases where we can helpRegards, Shaiju

Spoke to Sr today and she told that they DON'T have any other commitments or special reasons...
The figures i sent was just approximate figure..the actual is 3000 for her dad and 2250 for her mom...it comes around 63000....they are staying in a rented house and since this school is in a remote place they may have to opt for some van..and then there are expenses for uniform, books etc....since one of their kid died, they are trying to do the best for their kid and trying to make sure that she gets good education......
I personally don't think 63000 per annum is a big amount and it's easy to survive with that for a family of 3 for a year, especially considering the kind of inflation that we are having currently.......finally, Sr won't tell me unless it's really genuine....and it's a matter of 7500....
I agree that there are families surviving with money less thatn that...and whose parents are not well ..etc etc..but how will we find those... ??
let me know ur thoughts...
