Sorry for the delay in sending these, actually the grill/mesh work that we did on the Ashram's terrace got completed only couple of weeks back. As I had mentioned earlier , the only open space (and the only place they get some sunlight and air) that they have in women's ashram (it's a house
with 45 people !!) is their terrace and they are not able to let the
women inmates use it as there are cases where some of them jumped from
there (these are mentally ill women) and there are cases where they threw things down from the terrace.
So, they needed a grill to cover the sides and top of terrace.
We are also trying to see how we can make them self sufficient. With that in mind, we also made a small partition/room on terrace where they can do candle making. Fortunately, after lot of enquiries and searching, we got some one from our church (Mr Biju , St Mary's Engineering works) who agreed to charge us primarily on the material cost and hardly anything on labor. Actually it took more than 2-3 weeks of labor with 3-4 people. I've been going there regularly to check and they have done a great job !! So, big thanks to them. He charged 80,000 Rs (materials + labor) for this ...
Good news is they have already started making candles in the room and the inmates are spending lot of time on the terrace for playing games, candle making etc and that's the only place where they can get a view of the outside world :-( Here are few pics/video...
