It just can't get any better... !!!! Last Saturday, 4-6 kids in our apartment including Joe & Tony (Prajval, Mithil, Vasisht and Sanvi were the others) had conducted a food fest sort of thing in our basement. They called it "Chillar party" or something like that...They do that every vacation to make some extra pocket money. They made bhel puri, lime juice , bhajji etc and also conducted some games. They sell these for 5-10 bucks and the profit they finally made was only around 400-500 Rs. Last year, it was much bigger and they had divided the profit among themselves. I was under the impression that they are doing the same thing this year as well.
On Monday, I was overjoyed and pleasantly surprised when Riya showed the pics below !! Apparently, kids bought a school kit for a BBMP sweeper's 5 year old kid with the profit they got from the event!! They also gave some of their old clothes, toys and a school bag. Looks like they have started taking the 'tiny steps' and definitely have taken a cue from the small initiative that we did at Snehadaan and the one that we did at the Orphanage/Old age home at Bannerghatta road. Needless to say, it definitely made my day !! :-) :-)
On a related note, we enquired more about this kid (Pavan) and the family. Even though he is 5+ years now, they have not started sending him to school because of their financial situation. I will try to find more details about them and I strongly think we should help if required with his schooling.

We are definitely going to help Pavan. I've asked Riya to find them and talk to them to get more details. Also, help them in finding a school and take care of the admission process.
